Doosan Chairman Y.H. Park Steps up Efforts to Ensure Co-Growth with Subcontractors
Post Date: 2010-10-26

Chairman Y.H. Park visited subcontractors and listened to the difficulties they face, and instructed the top managers of all affiliates to help resolve their problems, as he stepped up efforts to ensure co-growth with suppliers.

Chairman Park visited Jinyoung TBX Co., a Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction subcontractor, and Samkwang Machinery Co., a Doosan Infracore subcontractor, in Changwon on October 25, and listened to employees’ opinions at worksites in person.

Chairman Park said, “Doosan’s top managers will hold more discussions with subcontractors from now on, and more proactively respond to their requests for assistance with the difficulties they face in order to ensure practical co-growth with them.” He also instructed Doosan affiliates’ top managers, who accompanied him, to positively consider such requests.

Preisdent Kim Jun-seop of Jinyoung TBX asked for the exemption from guarantee securities and to have guaranteed orders for long-term suppliers. Chairman Park said Doosan will seek ways to exempt the securities for good subcontractors and to design ways to preferentially allocate orders for long-term suppliers to help them with seamless supply of manpower and minimize risks.

During his visit to Samkwang Machinery, its president Jeon Seo-hun asked for the availability of interim payment for major supplies, which constitute a significant financial burden. Chairman Park said Doosan would make possible interim payment for parts and components that entail a significant cost burden, and which cause difficulties in securing resources such as raw materials.

Noting that “Corporate social responsibility is very important," Chairman Park also proposed during the visits that “If good subcontractors as well as Doosan affiliates participate in corporate social responsibility activities together, they will be able to share corporate culture and boost their sense of partnership to attain co-growth, among other diverse synergistic effects.”

Chairman Park has thus far stressed that co-growth with subcontractors is part of corporate social responsibility, and emphasized Doosan’s practical implementation of such initiatives. To that end, he said he would inspect affiliates to check the progress of co-growth efforts with their subcontractors, and reflect the results of such an assessment in evaluating top managers.

Meanwhile, Doosan plans to further improve its virtuous cycle partnerships, or Doosan’s program for co-growth, at the respective affiliates, and implement them accordingly by more carefully reflecting lively voices from worksites.
