New cycle for Bauma ConExpo Africa
Post Date: 2014-08-28

Following next year's exhibition, Bauma ConExpo Africa, what its organizers called Africa’s largest trade fair for the construction and mining machinery industries, will move to a three-year cycle. The inaugural event was held in 2013 and the next exhibition will be held at the Johannesburg Expo Centre (JEC) in South Africa from September 15-18, 2015. Following that staging, the next event will be held in 2018.

"We made this strategic decision based on the many discussions we have held since the extremely successful premiere,” said Elaine Crewe, CEO of organizers BC Expo South Africa. “The three-year cycle clearly positions Bauma ConExpo Africa as the leading trade fair in Africa for the global construction and mining industry."

The premiere of Bauma Africa in September 2013 attracted 754 exhibitors from 38 countries and 14,700 visitors from over 100 countries, according to show organizers Messe München International and the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM).

Lawrence Peters, Chairman of the Construction and Mining Equipment Suppliers' Association (CONMESA), applauded the move. "The three-year interval suits the region because it depicts the market more accurately,” Peters said. “It also gives local and international companies additional time to ensure that they are sufficiently prepared for the intense business activity at this event."
